Easter is this weekend and we can help you put together a basket! We have goodies for the insides and we can wrap it all up for you with beautiful tulle, ribbon, plastic, and an included reusable basket or box for $4.99. Here’s a few tips for what you can stuff it with: plush toys, dessert themed erasers, candy, lego minifigures, pencils, sitcky mosaics, jewelry kits, glitter body tattoos, Easter stickers, puzzles, stomp rockets, bunny books, kids’ CDs and so much more!
We will be participating in the Natick Kid’s Art Walk to recognize Earth Day 2013! Starting Monday (3/10), we will have markers and paper available in our Natick store for kids (grades 1-4) to create artwork on an ongoing basis that shows what they love about our planet. The drawings will be displayed in stores around Natick Center for two weeks in April leading up to Natick’s Earth Day Festival, and then will be showcased at the festival on the Common on Sun. April 21, 11am to 3pm, where there will be food, music, kids activities, and more!
So in all the color you can inspire, draw us some pictures of why you love Earth: plants, animals, water, food, natural resources, nature parks… or what we could do better to care for Earth: recycling, limiting pollution, using less energy, caring for endangered species. Part of our window will be used to display the artwork made by children, and on Wed. 3/27 we will have a special Earth Day workshop from 3:30 to 4:30pm. We hope you join us!

Coming soon! Tassie is a company with 100% original designs implemented by artisans who have many years of experience. The brother and sister, who own the company, inherited it from their parents. They originally assembled beautiful silk flowers until they could not compete with the lower wages in China. Together they embarked on a new endeavor developing fairies. The brother focuses on running the company and the sister on the designs.
Tassie Design is a cottage industry. Most of the fairy assembly takes place in Phrae, one of the most ancient provinces in Thailand. The workers start at $10 a day (their days are eight hours and they typically work 5-6 days a week). Tassie supports their workers in gaining more advanced skills to earn as much as 2 ½ times the minimum wage. The employees work in a safe environment (no accidents in the 20 years they have been in business) and have the option to assemble fairies in their own homes.
We can’t wait to get these beautiful creatures into the stores. What a great companion to go in your child’s bedroom.
Can you hear a little jingling in the air? We’ve already had some snowflakes fall… the seasons are changing and that’s how we know it’s time for our annual BIG sale, which is less than a week away!
EVERYTHING in the store is 20% OFF!
We’re not holding anything, so come early for the best selection.
We are very excited to receive our first ever shipment of KinderCones–cone shaped goodie bags based on a back to school tradition in Austria and Germany that dates back over 200 years!
from Wikipedia -
A “Schultüte” (or School Cone, even though the word “Tüte” translates more as “bag” from German), often also called Zuckertüte (“sugar bag”, especially in Eastern Germany) is a paper (and later plastic) bag in particular.
When children in Germany and Austria set off for their first day in school upon entering first grade, their parents and/or grandparents present them with a big cardboard cone, prettily decorated and filled with toys, chocolate, candies, school supplies, and various other goodies. It is given to children to make this anxiously awaited first day of school a little bit sweeter.
We have lots of Little things to pack your KinderCone with. We will also help you fill it up with brightly colored tissue and ribbon. Or just call us and we can custom fill one for you and have it ready for you to pick up before school starts. (Wellesley: 781-239-9955, Natick: 508-653-7600)
KinderCone is the first company to bring this tradition to America with their beautiful, specially-made cones. They (and we) believe that celebrating the first day of school–for any grade–is a fun way to inspire your kids with the joys of school and to build his or her confidence going in on the first, big day.
Check back to the blog soon (or facebook) for more on our back to school lunchboxes, backpacks, snack bags, thermoses, waterbottles, and more.
